Children’s Art Lessons : Ages 6 - 14
Private lessons are suitable for students ages 5+. For very young students (5-7) lessons are focused on exploring and learning about the basics of color mixing, material exploration, and art history. Older students (8+) can learn both art history topics and art skills in more depth, begin practicing the fundamentals of drawing from observation, as well as more advanced skills such as composition, proportion, and shading.
With over 7 years of experience teaching art, and 3 years working in childcare, I am passionate about the power of creative outlets to expand children's vocabulary for expression, imagination, and intuition. I prioritize safety, curiosity, and mutual respect, creating a collaborative environment where students feel free to express themselves and learn new skills. I have a background in painting, sculpture, and costume design, experiences I draw on when working with kids.
One-on-one art lessons nurture imagination, build confidence, and develop real artistic skills through play, experimentation, and scaffolded learning. By building a strong rapport with students individually I am able to closely assist them in growing and gaining confidence through skills building and communication.
